While the architectural language appears clean and uncomplicated, the planning process required careful coordination between numerous site constraints before the building footprint could be established. As a corner allotment, the dwelling was subject to additional setback requirements that significantly influenced the overall form and positioning of the home. These planning controls were further complicated by multiple Sydney Water assets, including underground pipelines, a maintenance manhole to the front of the property, and additional maintenance shafts located toward the rear, each requiring protection zones that restricted where construction could occur.

Public infrastructure also played a significant role in shaping the design. Existing fire hydrants and Council drainage infrastructure limited potential driveway locations, requiring the garage and vehicle access to be carefully positioned to satisfy engineering, planning and functional requirements simultaneously. Rather than allowing these constraints to compromise the design, they became key parameters that informed a highly resolved architectural outcome, demonstrating how technical challenges can be successfully integrated into a cohesive residential solution.
