Project Overview
A contemporary dual occupancy designed with a strong emphasis on form, proportion, and material warmth, creating two cohesive dwellings that read as a unified architectural composition. The design balances sculptural curved elements with clean horizontal lines, producing a refined streetscape presence while maintaining individual identity for each residence through subtle tonal variation and detailing.

Built Form and Planning Response
The architectural planning focuses on efficient spatial organisation while maintaining strong connections to outdoor areas and natural light. Ground floor living zones are positioned to maximise openness and flow, with large glazed openings enhancing visual continuity between internal spaces and landscaped areas. Circulation has been kept simple and legible, improving functionality and overall usability.
Upper level planning prioritises privacy and comfort, with bedrooms arranged to optimise solar orientation and separation between adjoining dwellings. Projecting curved balconies introduce architectural depth while also providing passive shading, reducing solar exposure to glazing and improving environmental performance. The layering of volumes avoids flat elevations and contributes to a softer overall building presence.
The garage and lower level are visually anchored through heavier materials and recessed forms, while upper levels appear lighter and more refined. This hierarchy of massing reduces perceived bulk and creates a more residential scale outcome within the streetscape.
Materiality and Architectural Character
The material palette combines textured masonry, vertical battens, and smooth render to establish contrast between solidity and refinement. Warm tones are used to soften the contemporary geometry, ensuring the building feels welcoming while maintaining a clean architectural language. The restrained selection of finishes allows the form itself to remain the primary visual feature.
Landscaping has been integrated into the architecture through balcony planters, soft planting edges, and layered greenery that complement the curved forms. The symmetrical site arrangement reinforces order and balance, while subtle variation between the two dwellings maintains individuality without disrupting cohesion.
External lighting has been carefully considered to enhance depth and highlight architectural elements during evening conditions. The overall outcome is a refined dual occupancy that demonstrates how thoughtful planning, proportion, and material restraint can elevate medium-density residential design.

Projects
Our work focuses exclusively on residential architecture, ranging from custom homes and duplex developments to alterations, additions, and secondary dwellings. Each project is carefully considered in response to its site conditions, planning controls, and the specific needs of the client.
We approach every design with an emphasis on clarity of form, efficient planning, and long-term buildability. Explore a selection of our recent projects to see how these principles translate into built outcomes across a range of sites and scales.
