Project Overview
A contemporary two-storey residence with an integrated secondary dwelling, defined by clean geometry, refined masonry finishes, and carefully framed glazing that enhances both street presence and internal light quality. The design responds to the natural slope through a layered entry sequence and structured landscaping, creating a strong sense of arrival while maintaining functional clarity across both dwellings.
Architectural Form & Materiality
The built form is composed through a series of rectilinear volumes, with horizontal planes and deep recesses generating shadow and visual depth across the façade. The interplay between solid masonry and transparent glazing elements creates balance, allowing the architecture to feel substantial without appearing heavy.
A recessed entry void introduces vertical emphasis within the composition, acting as a focal point that visually anchors the elevation. This layered approach to massing provides hierarchy while maintaining a restrained architectural language.
Material selections focus on longevity and texture, with light-toned brickwork contrasted by darker framing elements and warm soffit finishes. The result is a façade that feels refined, contemporary, and architecturally cohesive.
Spatial Planning & Function
Internal planning prioritises efficient circulation and clear zoning between communal and private areas. Living spaces are oriented to maximise natural light and connection to outdoor areas, supporting both everyday use and entertaining.
Vertical relationships between levels are expressed through double-height glazing and carefully positioned openings, enhancing the perception of space while maintaining privacy from neighbouring properties. Ceiling heights and window proportions contribute to a strong sense of volume throughout.
The secondary dwelling is planned to operate independently while remaining visually aligned with the primary residence, supporting multi-generational living or rental flexibility without compromising architectural consistency.
