Project Overview
A refined double-storey residence that balances classical proportion with contemporary restraint, this home establishes a strong street presence through symmetrical composition, articulated column elements, and layered façade depth. The architectural language draws from traditional influences while maintaining a clean, modern execution, creating a residence that feels both timeless and highly functional for contemporary family living. Internally, the planning prioritises spatial generosity, visual connectivity, and natural light, with a carefully considered transition between formal and informal zones to support everyday family life as well as entertaining.
Compositional Order & Architectural Presence
The façade is structured around a strong central axis, reinforced through the double-height entry portico and vertically expressed columns that frame the arrival sequence. This hierarchy establishes immediate legibility from the street, with the upper-level balcony and recessed glazing adding depth and shadow articulation to prevent the elevation from feeling flat or monolithic. The material palette remains intentionally restrained, allowing proportion, rhythm, and alignment to carry the architectural expression rather than excessive ornamentation.
The interplay between solid rendered elements and darker recessed components creates contrast and visual layering, particularly at the garage interface where vertical screening softens the mass of the built form. Horizontal banding lines assist in visually grounding the upper storey while maintaining cohesion between levels. Careful alignment of openings ensures the façade reads as a unified composition rather than a collection of individual parts.
Landscape integration further reinforces the architectural intent, with low-profile planting and symmetrical entry elements complementing the formal language of the building. The result is a residence that communicates permanence, order, and quiet confidence within the suburban streetscape.
Spatial Planning & Internal Functionality
Internally, the layout is organised to separate public and private domains while maintaining visual continuity across the ground floor. The main living areas are positioned to maximise connection with the rear yard, enabling strong indoor-outdoor relationships and allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the plan. Circulation paths are kept efficient and intuitive, reducing wasted space while improving day-to-day usability.
Upper-level planning prioritises family privacy, with bedrooms arranged to provide acoustic separation and comfortable retreat spaces. The front rooms benefit from elevated outlooks, while the central void and circulation areas allow light transfer between levels, enhancing spatial perception. Functional considerations such as storage, bathroom placement, and service zones are integrated seamlessly within the overall planning strategy.
