Project Overview
This contemporary two-storey residence was designed to establish a strong architectural identity through the use of contrasting volumes, refined material selections, and carefully balanced proportions. The design combines clean geometric forms with warm timber elements and integrated landscaping to create a modern yet timeless residential outcome, while internally prioritising functional planning, natural light, and comfortable family living.
Architectural Form & Material Expression
The architectural composition is defined by a series of clean rectilinear volumes articulated through contrasting materials and recessed elements, creating visual depth and hierarchy across the façade. A darker upper-level form establishes a bold architectural presence, while lighter rendered components provide balance and clarity to the overall composition.
Vertical timber battens introduce warmth and texture to the façade, softening the building mass and providing subtle screening to selected areas. Recessed balcony zones and overhangs create shadow lines that enhance the perception of depth while also contributing to passive solar control and environmental performance.
Careful attention was given to proportion, alignment, and detailing to ensure the home reads as a cohesive architectural composition rather than a collection of individual elements. The result is a contemporary residence with a clear design identity and strong streetscape presence.
Functional Planning & Contemporary Living
Internally, the planning strategy prioritises spatial efficiency, functionality, and adaptability to suit modern family lifestyles. The ground floor is organised around an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living zone that forms the central hub of the home, encouraging interaction while maintaining clear circulation and visual connection between spaces.
Large openings and controlled glazing enhance natural light penetration and strengthen the connection between interior spaces and the outdoor environment, supporting both everyday living and entertaining requirements. The layout balances openness with defined zones to ensure comfort and usability throughout the home.
Private areas are carefully positioned to provide separation from communal spaces, allowing for both shared family interaction and individual retreat. Material selections focus on durability and timeless finishes, delivering a comfortable residential environment that supports long-term liveability.
