Project Overview

A refined contemporary residence integrating basement parking beneath a sculpted two-storey form, where bold geometric volumes, vertical lighting elements, and contrasting material textures combine to establish a strong architectural identity. The façade composition balances solidity and transparency through layered planes, recessed entry framing, and feature stone articulation, creating a residence that presents with confidence to the street while maintaining warmth and human scale.

Layered Form & Architectural Expression

The façade was conceived as a composition of interlocking volumes, using depth and projection to create visual interest and hierarchy. A dominant horizontal roof plane extends forward to define the entry threshold, framing the double-height glazing element and establishing a strong sense of arrival. Vertical blade elements introduce rhythm and proportion, ensuring the building reads as a sculptural form rather than a flat elevation.

Material contrast reinforces this architectural intent, with darker cladding elements juxtaposed against lighter rendered surfaces and textured stone. The stone wall acts as an anchoring feature, visually grounding the composition while providing tactile richness that softens the contemporary geometry. Integrated linear lighting was carefully positioned to accentuate verticality and highlight architectural edges during evening conditions.

Vehicular components were intentionally recessed within the massing to maintain the primacy of the pedestrian entry experience. By reducing the visual dominance of the garage, the dwelling achieves a more refined residential character while still accommodating substantial functional requirements within the lower level.

Functional Planning & Living Environment

The dwelling is organised across three functional layers, with basement parking and ancillary spaces supporting the primary living zones above. This arrangement allows the ground floor to prioritise family living areas and spatial openness without sacrificing site efficiency. The planning strategy responds to both lifestyle expectations and regulatory constraints while maintaining comfortable internal proportions.

Ground level spaces are configured to promote connection between kitchen, dining, and living zones, encouraging both daily family interaction and entertaining. Strategic placement of glazing and courtyard openings introduces natural light and ventilation, reducing reliance on artificial systems while enhancing spatial quality. Secondary rooms are integrated in a way that maintains privacy without disrupting the overall openness of the layout.

The upper level provides private accommodation including bedrooms and retreat areas designed for flexibility over time. Vertical connections between levels enhance spatial cohesion and daylight penetration, contributing to a comfortable internal environment. Overall, the planning balances efficiency with generosity, supporting contemporary family living within a clear architectural framework.
